ABREPTION was started in September 1996 by Cynthia and Paul Johnson. Both had previously been employed by a Luggage / Bag manufacturer for some years. Building on the skills acquired, a customer base was quickly established. Abreption became known by word of mouth and the client base has kept growing ever since.
A large part of Abreption’s USP is due to the ability to produce from a base starting point or to take on CMT work. From a sample to production. Quality and service is the KEY words and philosophy of Abreption.Working from a small unit in the market town of Grantham in Lincolnshire, the product itself is the selling point. Products have been exported to places as far away as Australia, Japan and the U.S.A.

Our designer Ali Taylor Mapletoft, a former London filmmaker, uses confident strokes of pen and ink to create striking hand-rendered prints in her Brighton studio. Provenance is key to Ali’s production, the majority of which is undertaken by a small UK team. Taking inspiration from literature, historical costume, pop-culture and her African childhood in the mountain kingdom of Lesotho, Ali applies a quintessentially British style to her contemporary collections. Her works often include, historical drawing, hidden messages, and a dash of punk attitude.
Luxurious, ornate silk scarves each created by hand using professional steam-fixed dyes.I have endeavoured to capture an accurate image of the colours of each scarf, yet the mercurial essence of colourful silk and its representation on a web page is variable.
I have found that the photographs of the model wearing the scarves give the best idea of the real item. However, even these images fail to convey the soft, delicate, luxurious quality of these scarves.
Scarves over £70 are presented in a signature gift box and packaged in a parent outer shipping box (see photo on Scarf Venus Falls Pink – the image of the model looking like Vermeer’s ‘Girl with a Pearl Earring’, you can click on the boxes pic to see a larger image).
Bandana sized scarves are wrapped in acid free tissue paper and despatched in a signature envelope.
Aklah Clothing was conceived after many years of being involved in various equestrian disciplines. These disciplines included show jumping, eventing and dressage before specialising in producing ridden Arabians to National and International standard under the Aklah Arabian banner.
During this period, it was felt that there were many choices in gentlemen’s apparel for stylish, casual lifestyle country wear that could endure the rigors of daily country life, but the choices were more limited in the ladies’ section. The apparel, in many cases, were either too delicate or fashionable.
So the seeds were sown and Aklah Clothing was conceived as a new venture in 2015. Our goal is to provide an affordable Made in Britain ladies rural lifestyle brand. We are building a classic collection, which will be the main stay of your wardrobe. Our collections are designed to be versatile, stylish and are subtly enhanced with contrasting seasonal trending colours that reflect the countryside.
In addition to producing a rural life style brand with British heritage, we are passionate about knowing the provenance of our clothing and have made the conscious decision for our clothing to be manufactured here in Britain.
We have built up relationships with company’s in Leicester, Nottingham, Lancashire and Scotland. Our polo shirts are not only manufactured but also knitted and dyed here in Britain. Our sweatshirt materials are knitted and woven in England and manufactured in Scotland. Finally, our pom-pom hats are also knitted in a factory in England
We hope you are, or become as passionate as we are about preserving British manufacturing and the true British heritage, that the rest of the world hankers for and come with us on the journey as we develop and build our versatile, stylish rural clothing range, fit for the rigours of country life.
