Would you like to use your old jacket or coat and have me make it into something you can treasure for ever?
I don’t know about you but I love leather coats and the character each and every one has, all my jackets are sourced from charity shops and Ebay but mostly people give me their coats and jackets to repurpose into their own choice of bag/holdall. Not really following fashion trends but instead letting the details from the jacket guide my design.
So would you like to use your old jacket or coat and have me make it into something you can treasure for ever? Maybe you have something tucked away for a rainy day (or a new fashion era) maybe for some of you a big bat-winged embarrassing 80’s jacket with the notion ..”I’ll save that till it comes back in fashion” It probably will no doubt but listen here, I would love to get my hands on your beloved jacket and transform it into a beautiful bag/holdall/baby bag/clutch/hobo/you name it, I will make it!
This past year has been the most exciting as I set out to find beautiful galleries and stockists to sell my up-cycled products. Recycling more materials than ever and currently working on a range of mens accessories from British Airways plane seats along with the life jackets and seat belts.

I make handmade leather satchels, bags and accessories. i’ve also made luggage. they tend to be kind of slightly heavy and larger products, so maybe for more formal use. i do make day bags, things like that, less formalwear but what seems to go particularly well and what works really well for me are the satchels and the briefcases and the laptop bags, that kind of thing.
I make a range of accessories as well, which kind of match the bags, which add a really nice sideline and also make really nice gifts for people and it means that people can own a little bit of catherine edwards even if they didn’t have to invest hundreds of pounds in a huge piece of luggage.
I do quite a lot of commissions and take on a lot of customers through word of mouth. quite a lot of time i’ll have somebody coming to me saying “my friend has bought a bag” or “i’ve seen a bag that somebody was carrying on a train going to leads. i want to know where i can get one. can i get one like it?” i work with a customer to produce the bag that they want specifically tailored for their needs.

Felt: We source our 100% merino wool felt from Germany. Sustainable and biodegradable, wool felt is known for its water resistant and insulating properties, which make it a perfect material to protect iPads, iPods and Kindles.
Leather: The leather for our cases originates from Santa Croce sull ‘Arno near Pisa in Tuscany (Italy). The hides are European sourced and are processed using the traditional method of vegetable tanning. The process of vegetable tanning enhances the natural characteristics of the leather, so that small marks and imperfections may be visible and dye may be absorbed slightly differently across the hide. This makes the leather unique adding to the individuality of the cases.
Suede: The inside of our leather cases is lined with soft suede to give added protection to iPads, iPods and Kindles. A range of colours are available to complement the felt and leather.
Soft calf suede sourced in the UK is used for all our pencil cases and for the flaps of our waxed cotton tool rolls.
Our tool rolls are made from quality UK oilskin made from 100% cotton.
At Etch, we laser-etch your artwork, or art from our Artwork series, onto your Apple products or other popular devices. We do our stuff on our own rather lovely bamboo cases, products in our store or onto the device itself. The choice is yours.
A Moso bamboo case gives your iPhone or iPad the warm, natural feeling that only organic materials can provide. We simmer, stir, cut to size, precision-shape, tickle with sandpaper and finish with massage oil (the bamboo loves this).
We’re a bunch of arty perfectionists trying to save the world from mass-produced, identical products using beautiful, handcrafted (sustainable) cases and etchings. All work guaranteed and free UK delivery, too.. If we’re not happy with our products, they don’t leave our workshop.
Whilst our current focus is on the iPhone and iPad, we do have new products on the horizon and are always looking to expand our range in new and innovative directions.
