I set up my studio in 2009, inspired by my love for illustration, colour and pattern. My first collection was a range of hand-drawn and digitally printed wallpapers, designed for my graduation project at Leeds College of Art. This body of work then went on to win me the Business Design Centres ‘New Designer of the Year 2008’ award, which is where I was first noticed by Liberty of London who became my first stockist.
I have since gone on to design further ranges of wallpapers, as well as furnishing fabrics and various homewares. I sell all products directly from this website, as well as working with trade and retail customers around the world.
My studio is based at The Custard Factory, a beautifully restored Victorian factory in the centre of Birmingham. I take pride in running a small independent studio, which allows me to build personal relationships with my customers, stockists and suppliers, which I think is very important.
All of my products are very proudly printed and manufactured in England – all within a couple of hours drive from the studio in fact! I have worked with the same Lancashire based wallpaper printers since I set up my company, and all of my fabrics are printed by another Lancashire based company just up the road. This allows me to work closely with the colouration and production teams to ensure the highest quality, colour matching and expert craftsmanship for my customers.
Amanda Ross creates botanical images of extreme clarity and beauty printing directly from preserved horticultural cuttings. A self-confessed plant killer and useless gardener, she constructs her ideal gardens and landscapes using greenery collected from many walks, selected gardens and the occasional ‘liberated snippet’.
Drawing on her textile background she uses textile inks, fabrics, paper, and plants from her pressed collection to produce these artworks. A collector of reminders, her plant library has grown from pieces sourced on her travels, both abroad and in the UK, from site-specific vegetation to whatever catches her eye.
Once back in the studio the artworks grow organically from their components, the imagery dictating the scale and colours. Original artworks, hand-printed on fabric, are mounted, framed and sold as such. Each piece is individual and the product of many hours of perfecting both the subject aesthetic and printing process. Individual plant imprints (printed using the same method) are scanned and amalgamated into the ‘Botanical Element Library’. These elements are used to create digital collages which become limited edition prints.
A small, selected, number of these collages are reproduced as gift stationery, greetings cards, reproduction prints or melamine tableware.
All of these products are proudly made in the UK.

Bysshe Partnership is an independent company producing high quality fabrics in the traditional textile heartland of the British Isles. We use natural and organic fibres, sourcing yarns from the UK and Europe, to provide a regional network of production where it is possible to oversee the entire process from seed to final creation.
Here at Bysshe, we work with some of the last remaining textile mills in the UK. Most of our weaving takes place in Lancashire, before the rolls travel a short distance over the hill to be finished in Yorkshire.
Sustainability and regional autonomy are crucial to the way we work, ensuring we offer a fabric range that supports domestic textile production. Our partners have persevered through the challenging years of the British manufacturing decline to become leaders in their field today, competing successfully with the international competition. Together we aim to present a counter narrative to the current global textile industry.
Our collection offers designers, craft makers and enthusiasts an ethical alternative. We ensure the highest quality at the lowest environmental cost, developing fabrics for a sustainable future.
